Hi,

I’m Ed.

I built and lead the legislative practice for a state agency that advances government innovation. This means combing through thousands of bills, identifying the ones that matter, and helping senior leadership and the governor’s office work toward better policy.

I also conduct research and provide guidance on emerging tech policy, such as frontier AI regulation and the use of automated decision tools in employment.

Much of my work supports our cross-functional project teams of engineers, designers, and product leads. I built bill-tracking and alert tools to help us identify upcoming legislative challenges and opportunities.

I’ve also worked on public engagement campaigns to close the gap between the public and policymakers. More than 10,000 people took part in these campaigns.

Prior to my current role, I spent most of a decade in local government, working on policy for a New York City Council member and workforce development in New Jersey. I have a BA in political science from Yale, with a focus on political philosophy.

Outside my day job, I compete in AI safety hackathons and organize a regular meetup to debate AI policy. I’ve also completed BlueDot Impact’s courses in AGI Strategy and Frontier AI Governance.

Hobbies include riding a steel-framed bike older than I am, chasing deals on Facebook Marketplace, and searching for the perfect taco.
